t is generally accepted that one should not drop the firing pin on an empty chamber, which is the primary reason to have Snap Caps for guns. Snap Caps should be used when checking or adjusting the trigger pull. Releasing the tension on the hammer springs, when storing guns, Snap Caps are ideal.
